Why Parent Company Matters

Understanding operators in the oil and gas industry can be tricky. Companies change hands, acquisitions happen, and many operators continue working under their original names long after they’ve been bought out. This can make it difficult to track true ownership and analyze company-wide performance. That’s where our new Parent Company feature comes in.

With this update, WellDatabase now connects multiple operators under their respective parent companies, giving users a more accurate and streamlined way to analyze data.

Key Features & Benefits

 🔷 Parent Company Filter

A new filter allows you to search for and analyze companies at the parent level, instead of just by operator names. No more guessing which entities belong to which corporate group!

🔷 Color By & Grouping Options

Within your mapping and analytics, you can now color by parent company and group data accordingly. This eliminates duplicate entries for the same company operating under different names.

 🔷 Comprehensive Ownership Visibility

When you switch to Parent Company mode, you’ll see all assets consolidated under their true owner. For example, rather than seeing Anadarko and Oxy listed separately, the system now links them under Oxy’s parent entity.

🔷 Acquisition Awareness

Our internal acquisition database tracks completed acquisitions, automatically updating company groupings as transactions close. This means you get the most up-to-date view of company holdings.
